Non-native English speakers often face difficulties Aspirating the sounds of English. Unlike other languages that tend to use the different regions of the vocal tract (velar, uvular, or pharyngeal region, etc), Received Pronunciation requires a relaxed posture. Overcoming this challenge can be particularly difficult for individuals who subconsciously activate these various regions influenced by their native language.
This exercise involves repetition drills to help individuals overcome these patterns. Beginning with the aspirated /h/ sound, the goal is to gradually extend this relaxed aspiration to other consonant sounds.
